16 Benefits of Coaching: How the Right Coach Can Transform Your Life (And My Nine-Month Leap)

Updated: Apr 25

Just here for the ways a coach can transform your life? Feel free to scroll to the bottom—I’ve got you.

. . .

But before you go… maybe stay for a few more lines and see if I can pique your interest.

Because you, my love—whether you know it or not—have just landed on my inaugural blog post. The one where I begin to share—openly and honestly—how I found myself pregnant, unexpectedly, after a brief connection with my surf instructor… courtesy of a perfectly timed swipe on Tinder.

If you’re imagining sun-soaked days, saltwater hair, bikinis, and just a little too much “pura vida” energy… you wouldn’t be wrong.

Hey—it’s a 2026 world full of two-second hooks, algorithm-approved soundbites, and “wait—this might change your life” energy… and a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do to keep you reading.

This wasn’t something I had mapped out or carefully placed on my vision board. Life has a way of unfolding in moments that don’t ask for permission.

And I chose to go through with it—because deep down, somewhere in my heart, I’ve always known I wanted to be a mom. I just never thought it would be a single one.

That... is the story your walking into.

I have no shame about it—just a strong intuition… and a natural propensity for calculated risks. And by that mean choosing to go through with it. The getting pregnant part? That may have been fate…

You’ll see—we’ll get to all the stories soon enough. But for now, come along… I have a feeling you’ll enjoy the adventure.

Where in the World Have I Landed?

Maybe as you’re reading this, you’re in a small Canadian town, breathing in the crisp autumn air. Or wandering the glowing streets of a romantic old-world city, cobblestones humming beneath your feet.

Or maybe you’re watching the sky blush at golden hour from a quiet mountain ridge… sipping something warm in a tucked-away café as snow falls softly beyond the window… or drifting through a local market, hands brushing woven baskets and fresh herbs—eyeing up the cutie behind the fruit stand, casually wondering if it’s the produce that’s organic or just the chemistry. 😉

Maybe you’re gazing through an ancient window at a sky jewelled with stars, or tucked deep in the jungle, monkeys swinging through emerald leaves all around.

Or… maybe you’re living a quieter rhythm—settled into a suburban home, with three kids and a dog. And hey, that’s most of us at some point, isn’t it?

I suppose, as my own life begins to slow down for a while—with my little u-turn baby in tow… or rather, in womb—I catch myself daydreaming about all the places I could be… other than here.

Now, with all that being said, wherever you are on this great big, beautiful planet, I hope life is holding you well—and if you’ve ever wondered about the benefits of coaching, you’re in the right place.

Leaps Across the World

Here’s another thing: I’ve lived in almost all the places I just described. For the last decade, intuition has been my compass—drawing me into new cultures and communities, all in service of my desire to learn about human nature, and the world around me.

It’s through all of that that I’ve learned not to fear the leap—even if, truth be told, many of mine were well-researched and slightly over-Googled (guilty as charged 🙋‍♀️).

Still, each one landed me exactly where I was meant to be.

Most recently, that place was a Blue Zone in Costa Rica—where I discovered what it truly means to live in rhythm with nature.

To live in a community where:

  • spiritual conversations unfold over morning cacao

  • self-awareness is the universal language,

  • and the skies are so clear you forget all about the realities of chemtrails.

Every flight between Costa Rica and Canadian hometown became its own meditation—half airplane, half time machine. Hours in the sky filled with reflection, gratitude, and the kind of excitement that makes your heart beat a little faster. Ever since my spiritual awakening, I’ve lived this gentle pendulation—between the world that holds my family, and the handful of ones where I've felt most like myself.

Once upon a time—in a Canadiana version of Gilmore Girls’ Stars Hollow—the place I’ll soon be bringing a child into the heart of.

The Nine-Month Leap

By now, I’ve probably taken a football field’s worth of leaps—to new places and new paths—especially if you count the inner ones too… the kind that come through spiritual initiations and ceremonial deep dives.

But then again, if our inner world really does mirror the outer, I guess I can’t exactly double dip on my numbers.

Either way, if you lined them all up end to end… you’d need a referee, a halftime show, and maybe even a full marching band—rat-a-tat-tat, ba-dum ba-dum—the whole parade-level situation.

Okay… I exaggerate. ☺️

And right now? I’m mid-leap again—only this one is a kind I’ve never taken before… as you might’ve guessed—the kind that takes nine whole months to land.

Here’s the breakdown so far:

  • Two weeks of shock, and anger—whose origins, to be fair, may need to stay in the vault… and aren’t some things better left a mystery anyway?...

  • One month of field research. The “can I actually do this?” kind...

  • Two weeks of relocation planning, aka packing up my belongings, selling the unnecessary, and mapping out my next living situation...

  • And two months of rebranding and business strategy… a girl’s gotta find a way to bring in the cash—since at the time, things were looking a lot more shoestring than sustainable.

And voilà—I’m four months into a surprise pregnancy that will, once landed, make me a single mom.

Something I’d contemplated many times in my mid-twenties, as a baby-curious young lass… always arriving at the same conclusion. Never in my life.

Well, lesson learned: Never say never. 😕

Since judgement is a brilliant boomerang—it will always circle back and meet you square in the heart chakra, whether in this lifetime or your future twenty-second, carrying with it the exact medicine you didn’t know you needed.

And while we’re here in spiritual insight land—the “well… that explains a lot” zone…

Here’s the truth about leaps:

When you slow down and really look at them up close, they’re not leaps at all. They’re a series of tiny, almost unremarkable baby steps that, over time, carry you from point A to point B.

But no one really sees that part… except you.

They’re the small, daily disciplines. The quiet inner nudges to step out of your comfort zone. To do the uncomfortable thing. To stay true to yourself—even when it might hurt someone you love. (Not deliberately, and not through deception, of course—that’s usually territory reserved for psychopaths and those with unhealed, small-t trauma patterns—the kind that tend to lean more narcissistic than empathic… and thats not what we’re doing here.)

I’m talking about the shift out of people-pleasing and into self-empowerment. For the ones with the overbearing, over-caring, beautiful golden hearts—you know who you are.

And I say it like that because I was… and might still be, one of them.

People gather around a floral circle on the ground, with children and adults observing. Bright flowers form a colorful ring in a sunny garden.
Closing Ceremonies at the Jungle School—marking the end of a chapter, and the quiet unfolding of all that’s been planted.

Am I Ready?

Am I ready you ask?

Well—since my very first job as a summer camp counsellor, to my most recent role as a secretary for a Waldorf-inspired, project-based school in the heart of the jungle (phew… that’s a mouthful), I’ve always gravitated toward environments centered around children and families.

I was a nanny for over a decade, and later worked in schools as a supply teacher for several years after that. I’ve spent plenty of time around out-of-the-box families who are truly thriving, fiercely resourceful and business savvy single moms—and also families navigating their own challenges. Enough to know what’s beautifully possible and also what holds people back.

And if the whispers from the ether are true, starseed babies are out on the hunt for awake, aware parents… so I’d put myself at about 60% ready—and honestly, I’ll take it.

Adventure Reimagined

From secluded work-aways in the French Pyrenees to quad-driving along the coastlines of Costa Rica, I’ve always lived for adventure.

This one just comes with a slightly different vantage point—not a backpack or a boarding pass, but a new little old soul joining me for the ride.

And truth be told, I might be getting a little ahead of myself… because at this stage, all I really have is a baby bump the size of a brioche à tête. 🥖💛

Still, it feels like the perfect moment for a plug though:

Like I said at the beginning, you’ve landed here right on time. This solo adventure has turned into a tag team of two—and our first shared leap is still unfolding midair.

If you’re feeling the vibe and want to come along for the adventure… I’d love to have you—go ahead and subscribe. You’ll find the link at the end of the post.

If you're anything like me—someone who likes to be thorough—I have a feeling you'll make it there. 😉

From Blossoming Coach… to I Need a Coach Too

Now… let’s circle back to where I’m at in my work—actually trying to make it work.

As I shared earlier, going from a shoestring budget to supporting a whole other human requires a quantum leap—a shift in perception.

And while I’m still working out the logistics, I know the potential for it is built in the small, almost imperceptible steps. Which is exactly where I’m at right now.

After two months of rebranding and building out the core visual and digital presence of Earth Heart Healing—my healing and coaching business—I came face-to-face with an old nemesis… a gaping roadblock, right in the middle of the path.

Or so I thought it was, as it first appeared to be. The roadblock that is, which was online sales.

No amount of book-binging, late-night ChatGPT-ing, or endless YouTube skimming could prepare me. The more I tried, the more insecure and confused I became.

That is, until I realized I wasn’t confused because I didn’t understand… I was confused because I wasn’t ready.

From the vantage point I was at, I could piece together strategies—things I could implement, steps I could follow—but something about it all felt off. Like I was working from a level that didn’t quite meet the moment I was in.

And here’s why:

Sometimes what we think is the problem… isn’t the problem at all.

It’s just a symptom. A side effect. Maybe even a distraction—something that keeps the mind busy circling. I was being offered all these strategies to stack on top of the moment, but I would never find a real solution there—because you can’t solve something at the level of the symptom when it's root lives deeper.

A wound you’re not quite ready to look at yet. Something beneath the surface…

You know the saying, “Even the smallest light can brighten the darkest night.”

But what if the thing you need to see is still tucked away in the shadows—just out of reach of that light? Not because it isn’t there… but because the big healing power of that little bright light hasn’t turned towards it yet?

That is to say, the roadblock I thought was online sales… wasn’t really the problem at all. It was just the messenger.

Core Wounds & the Reality We Learn to Live In

Buried beneath all the noise—online and offline, telling me to hustle, push, and perform—was something I wasn’t quite ready to face yet: my fear of being seen. How am I expected to sell something, when I'm still afraid to death of showing the world what that something is?

Now, I know some of you reading this might be thinking, “You just have to face your fear. We’re all human. This is the reality we live in—sometimes it’s harsh and judgmental, sometimes it’s loving and kind… but either way, you’re not that special, so just get on with it.”

And yes… on the surface there’s truth in that.

But for the old souls out there…

And for those who simply value the nuance and power of inner work.

For the ones waking up to beyond this outer this reality—beyond the status quo and into self-realisation… and perhaps even into the deeper layers of our collective and galactic history…

For those beginning to sense the patterns of control, the complexity of the human experience, and the ancient pathways of the soul—both in the light, and in the ways that light has been used… and misused… with and without our conscious consent… and in the dark.

As much as we are moving into an age of light—of creativity, expansion of our soul identity, and greater personal freedom—we are also being asked to come to terms with the parts of our history that are still hidden in the dark.

Where pain and suffering exist. Where harm has been done to us… and, through us. And that reckoning carries weight.

Of grief. Guilt. Heartbreak. Shame. Anger… and all the rest. Just as the light carries love, joy, creativity, and bliss—the dark asks to be felt, understood, and integrated.

Where This Meets Real Life

And if you have no idea what I’m saying—and I’m about to lose you to the latest viral scroll on Instagram or TikTok—let’s bring this down to earth for a moment.

Think of it like this: Our emotions are meant to be felt. They’re information.

And yes, sometimes we get stuck in them—and that’s where “just get on with it” can be the exact right medicine to reach for from the cabinet.

But other times, when they’re big—overwhelming, consuming, even paralyzing—it’s not because something is wrong with us. It’s because there is an equal and resonant experience connected to them…and, perhaps more importantly, an equally resonant outward path to a creative resolution.

And until we remember…until we bring that experience into the light… we won’t fully release it. Learn from it. Or be able to create with it.

Whether it’s something we lived through as a child, something passed down through our families, or something deeper that feels like it came with us—if it’s showing up, it’s asking to be met.

And if it’s asking to be met, then at some point…we’ll be invited to heal it.

The thing is—this full-spectrum healing process tends to move through us on soul time…which doesn’t always take into account that we’re living within the very human constraints of 24-hour days… and 80 year lifespans, on average.

Sometimes, we can spend lifetimes living inside a wound. Caring for the sick or the impoverished… because somewhere deep within, we ourselves are still hurting. Or finding ourselves in painful dynamics as the one being hurt… because, at another time, we may have caused harm we don’t yet fully understand.

Yet within each lifetime, we're learning.

No matter where we are, we’re always learning. Which has value, and is perhaps why the soul is never in a rush. (Unless, of course, it is in a rush.) It moves differently than we do—less bound by time, less finite.

Maybe that has something to do with it too.

And it's not that simple either. Two people can share similar outward experiences, while moving through completely different inner landscapes.

So you see—“just get on with it” works… but if you’re seeking resolution and not just a solution to the predicament at hand, it only works if you’re willing to get into it first.

When I speak to the wound of not being seen, I’m not talking about the surface (which, you may have gathered, has been a constant in my life, going deep).  I’m speaking to the version of us that existed before the world shaped us—the Divine blueprint we were given.  And when that gets tucked away—so early we can’t even remember—it's difficult to recognize it in our own reflection.

From the Fear of Being Seen… To the Wound of Not Being Met

As I reflect on my life, I’m starting to see how this pattern was at play from the very beginning.

A fear of being seen—something that, as a starseed, I feel I may have carried in as a form of self-protection—met an environment that mirrored it perfectly.

A family that, in many ways, couldn’t fully meet me—which is a key ingredient in stabilizing reality: the practice of being met and reflected, which leads to creating with others in the outer world.

And so, my internal pattern met my external experience: A fear of being seen… that evolved into the wound of not being met.

From an inner child perspective, at least in this lifetime—since its good to explore things from multiple angles—growing up in a family that couldn’t fully meet me meant that stepping into my power felt like risking connection. And for the nervous system of a child, connection equals survival.

And so a stronghold is created.

A fear of being seen…leading to environments where I am not fully met…reinforcing the belief that it isn’t safe to be seen. And around it goes, for who knows how many lifetimes, until I'm finding myself again, bound in the in-between, not fully hidden, yet never fully revealed.

Safe enough to belong... yet never quite free.

How could I ever master something like online sales—something that requires visibility—if my nervous system was still wired to believe that being seen wasn’t safe?

And how could I ever sell something when I wasn't ready to see what I was selling?

You see, the issue at hand was never just a business problem.

It was my identity unraveling… and my nervous system just learning it was safe to be seen.

And the deepest truth in all of this… is that I had lost the ability to meet myself.

How I Found the Right Coach (Or How She Found Me)

Not all leaps are meant to be made alone.

Sometimes we need a coach, a mentor, or a guide—someone who can spot the blazing trail that slipped out of view while we were busy staring at the map upside down.

And mine didn’t descend on a cloud or arrive in a vision quest. Nope—she appeared in the most mystical of all places: my Gmail inbox.

Considering I get three to ten sales emails a week (most of which vanish straight into spam), that alone felt like a miracle. I want to learn that trick, I thought.

Her message was different. Personal. Thoughtful. Yes, it was a sales email—but it felt like there was a real human behind it.

Curious, I clicked through to her free content. It had substance and value. She was quietly checking boxes on my maybe-you-can-help-me list. Still, life moved on. She drifted to the back of my mind…until a couple of days later when another email appeared.

And to my surprise, it didn’t feel pushy or annoying. It felt like someone genuinely checking in. Like help—not hustle. So we booked a call. I looked into her credentials, listened to her stories, felt into her energy…

And before long, she became my coach.

And even with the map right side up, if you can't shake that sense of confusion and overwhelm, maybe it's time to find a coach.

When the Right Person Finds You

The reason I’m sharing this small window in time is to offer context for something I came to understand: Finding the right coach feels a lot like meeting a new friend.

There’s a sense of trust. A quiet inner knowing. That they’ll help guide you—safely and steadily—toward where you’re meant to go.

For me, that destination was consistent online sales. And like I said… or so I thought.

The deeper work—the unraveling, the identity shifts, the unbinding—that’s my realm. And that part, I walked largely on my own.

Yet once the fog began to lift, online sales was still an aspect of working online that I'm glad I hired a coach for. And the moment I began to truly release and integrate my core wound… the strategies made a lot more sense.

Standing at the Edge

So there it is—the first chapter of my new chapter, where potential feels boundless, and a new depth of effort and stamina is being asked of me.

Maybe, as you’ve made it to the end, something in this resonates—you’re somewhere similar too, standing at the edge of something unknown.

A blank canvas. A new chapter asking for courage. Two pink lines and a life about to change. Or simply that quiet pull forward—the next version of you calling your name.

Whatever form it takes, life will always invite us to leap.

Some leaps we make alone. Others are meant to be supported.

The right coach, mentor, or guide won’t walk the path for you—but they can help you move through it with more clarity and steadiness.

So wherever you are right now, may you find the courage to leap… and the wisdom to know when to reach for support.

At first, finding the right coach may feel a lot like meeting a new friend. But a coach serves a different role.

As Mike Murdock puts it:

Your best friend loves you the way you are; your mentor loves you too much to leave you the way you are. Your best friend is comfortable with your past; your mentor is comfortable with your future. Your best friend ignores your weaknesses; your mentor removes them. Your best friend is your cheerleader; your mentor is your coach. Your best friend sees what you do right; your mentor sees what you do wrong.”

While encouragement has its place, what is often needed is someone who sees our potential, who's willing to challenge, refine, and walk beside us into the future we’re building.

The right coach has likely walked the path a hundred times—yet still delights in seeing it anew through the eyes of those they guide.

Hi, I’m Marnie

…and I’m so happy you stopped by!

If you’ve made your way here after exploring my website, one thing you might not have picked up on is that—beneath all the soul work and spiritual wisdom—I’m actually pretty lighthearted.

While in my professional life I love diving deep into healing and personal growth, the love notes you’ll find here are flavoured with stories from my personal world — the one where my mom swears I’m from another dimension, the moon makes us lune-y, humor turns up the heat, and grace cools it down.  A world where leprechauns are definitely real, the cats almost always get a seat at the table… and where I’ve found myself right back where it all began — growing up along the 45th parallel, quietly living in the middle of things in more ways than one.

This blog has gone through many iterations over the years — and now, I find myself at yet another unexpected bend in life’s ever-winding road. I’ve landed (accidentally but fatefully — stars aligned, karma approved) in the land where the single mamas grow, newly pregnant and totally rocked. Let’s just say it’s given my whole “spiritual travelogue” theme a major plot twist.

But hey, sometimes it’s the tiniest feet that leave the biggest footprints, right?

So, with a full and joyful heart I'm saying:

Let live — and let the adventures begin!

" Sparks from the Heart has the Ability to Awaken Your Soul"

"What Spiritual Healing Means to Me—Because Obviously You're Curious!"

Spiritual healing is a steady journey—one that gently unfolds over time and brings us closer to feeling whole again. It’s rooted in both intuitive connection and a kind of subtle science that helps us tune into the deeper layers of who we are.

When we align ourselves with the natural rhythms of the earth and the cosmos, we gain clarity, strength, and access to the tools we need to heal and grow.

At its heart, dis-ease is simply imbalance—the result of being disconnected from the spiritual force within. But when we return to the present moment and listen to our hearts, we tap back into that divine wisdom. From there, healing flows, along with a renewed desire to grow, to love, and to be of service.

To heal, in the truest sense, is to come back to ourselves—to gently bring together what’s been seperate, and remember our wholeness.
